"The energy fields reflected from the hands of people doing healing work have the same intensity and frequency as the controlling and regulatory system in the person's body." James L. Oschman

The fact that the functioning of our body can be scientifically investigated helps the concept of energy medicine to emerge from an abstract context and become a phenomenon that people can experience and benefit from in a concrete way in their lives. By measuring the changes occurring in the body during these scientific studies, it is proven that energy therapy is much more than a placebo effect.
Benefits of Reiki for Cancer
According to scientific research conducted by the Brownes Cancer Support Center in Australia, the quality of life of cancer patients who received Reiki increased and the severity of their symptoms decreased.
According to a report published in 2003 by the American "Cure Media Group", which conducts research, publications and organizes conferences on cancer, the regulating effects of Reiki on the respiratory systems and blood pressure of cancer patients who received Reiki were observed, their pain decreased and their morale increased. Reiki has become a supportive treatment for cancer, and Reiki practitioners have started to work in some cancer treatment centers in America, Europe and Asia.
Reiki in Surgery
Heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Öz obtained important results regarding the benefits of reiki from the surgeries he performed with reiki practitioner Julie Motz. Post-operative depression, which is normally common, was not observed in any of the patients who received Reiki. None of the bypass patients experienced postoperative pain or leg weakness. In none of the organ transplant patients did their bodies reject the organ.
In a clinical trial conducted at Columbia/HCA Portsmouth Regional Hospital in 1988 , 15-minute reiki therapy was performed on patients divided into two groups before and after surgery, and it was observed that the group receiving reiki used less painkillers and their recovery time was accelerated.
Data to support the measurable physiological effects of Reiki are available in many medical journal publications and books. If your English is at a good level, some of the books full of scientific research you can read are: Energy Medicine: Scientific Basis by James L. Oschman, Spiritual Healing by Daniel J. Benor, Hands of Life by Julie Motz.
Reiki to Treat Pain, Anxiety and Depression in Chronic Patients
In the research conducted by Linda J. Dressen and Sangeeta Singg in 1998 and shared in a medical publication, 120 people with various diseases such as heart, cancer, hypertension, rheumatism, Aids, ulcer and asthma were divided into 3 groups and 4 treatments were applied to them. The first treatment was reiki, the second treatment was progressive muscle relaxation exercises, the third was no treatment, and the fourth treatment was fake reiki (that is, it was done as if reiki was being given but no reiki was given). The patients' values were measured before and after all these treatments. Upon completion of the 3-month treatment period, the findings showed that Reiki was by far more effective than other treatments in reducing pain and pain and in bringing the values in the patients' body to normal values.
The Success of Distance Healing Sessions in Advanced Aids Cases
In another study conducted and published in the Western Journal of Medicine by Fred Sicher and Elizabeth Targ, 40 advanced AIDS patients were divided into two groups. In addition to their medical treatments, the first group was sent remote healing by energy healers for an hour 6 days a week, without their knowledge, for 10 weeks. When the results of the two groups were compared after 6 months, it was revealed that the diseases of the group receiving remote energy were significantly less severe, their morale was better and they were hospitalized less often.
Scientific research on reiki similar to the above has been conducted on chronic diseases such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia and thyroid diseases and some psychological disorders, and the results have proven the benefits of reiki.
The common point of all these studies is that people have received Reiki regularly for a certain period of time . Especially in severe chronic diseases or cancer cases, the person consumes the Reiki energy he receives in a shorter time. In these cases, at least one full session per week is recommended.
According to the findings of the scientific research I have shared, when modern medicine and energy medicine work together (holistic healing), people's recovery times are accelerated, their response rates to treatment increase, and significant positive effects are observed on their general health.
As technology advances, scientific methods improve, and new scientific data on the benefits of energy medicine becomes available, more and more people will adopt a holistic approach to healing. Just as psychology was a "movement" whose reality and seriousness was questioned by the scientists of the period when it first emerged, but is now accepted (by the majority) as a branch of science, I think a similar scenario will occur with energy medicine such as Reiki.
